WHY I PAINT AND AM INVOLVED IN THE ARTS

The drama of a storm over the sea, the mysteriousness of a boat on the horizon at nightfall, the muscularity of trees, elements of the shore-line.

The wish to share the world through my eyes….art in the blood. A father who painted, an uncle acting, another a pianist and producer of opera.

The solitude of painting leading to theatre acting and then to film making with my friend Jeremy Thomas that developed into the documentaries with Stephen Fry and our own book on bipolar illness.

The continuing in solo performance and oil painting and poetry; all that apart from my clinical work and the complementary studying of Consciousness with the plan for a further media contribution on big questions- the origin of consciousness, the role of sleep and dreams.

How fortunate I feel to be able to bear witness in this way….
